At The Timbers
The luxurious 14 by 82 foot swimming pool at The Timbers is kept at a pleasant 85°F and features a water slide and state-of-the-art sanitizing technology. No noxious chlorine here to irritate skin and eyes. And between dips in the pool one can retire to the covered lounge area and sink into one of the comfortable deck chairs.

To wear off some youthful energy, kids can play for hours on the playground equipment, stage a mock siege from the fort, or jump to the Moon on the trampoline.
There are kilometers of forest walks on the property, shell beaches to comb and explore, and a private 18-pole disc golf course, too.
On the Penders
The population of the Penders – approximately 2,000 permanent residents – mushrooms in the summer months when visitors and seasonal weekenders arrive en masse to savour the sunshine, the beaches, and the many outdoor activities available here.

Pender Island has some of the world’s finest kayaking, boating, and hiking. There are also tennis courts, swimming pools and lakes, a challenging
9-hole golf course, and a world-class 18-pole disc golf course. To entice and delight the less adventurous, there are many fine galleries and craft shops showcasing local artists.

From mid-May until mid-October, one can buy local produce and crafts at either the Driftwood open air market or at the Farmers’ Institute Market at the Community Hall. Either is a great place to mingle with the “natives” and listen to snatches of Island news.
The highlight of the Summer season is the Pender Island Fall Fair, a one day extravaganza held in late August. The Fair, which is at the Community Hall, is a real country experience with locals vying for prize ribbons in produce, flowers, baking, arts and crafts. Live music, games, a dunk tank, a petting zoo, and the annual blackberry pie eating contest are among the many events at The Fair. And, at the end of the day, the annual beef BBQ, to round off an exciting event.

The Community Hall is the venue, too, for most of the many theatrical and music events on the island. Information about upcoming events is found in the Island’s monthly news magazine, The Pender Post, on the Community Channel or on
Community Hall’s
website.
